About Longview

Where do I start? Longview is the culmination of a diverse and interesting collection of life experiences and genetics.

Longview Santa Gertrudis Stud is the perfect venue. It is situated in the hinterland of the Manning Valley, approximately 30 mins drive out of Wingham or 1 hour from Gloucester and 4 hours north of Sydney. The nearest general store is in Mt George about 15 minutes drive away.

There are limited places for 250 adults, which usually means about 150 kids and up to as many as 100 muso's, crew, staff and security. It is a non-profit event. Our maximum number of paying adults is our break-even point.

The artists chosen each year represent a variety of genres, all of international quality, experience and musical integrity.

Each year our ambition is to better the previous year. When you look at the line-up on previous invitations, this is a difficult task.

The party itself tends to attract people who have a great time but behave well. There has never been a ripple of discord in the history of the party. Most people we know or are friends of friends. Others are just music enthusiasts who have contacted us and asked to be on the invitation list.

There is no money exchanged on the weekend, admittance is by pre-booked ticket only. Invitations are emailed and bookings are taken on a first in first served basis. The concept of booking a ticket in advance, travelling a long way, camping and live music seems to eliminate people exhibiting undesirable behaviour.

Most people arrive on Friday afternoon and camp until Monday. The music and party proper is on Saturday from about 1:00pm until around midnight.

There are 2 stages to facilitate a continuous programme of live music.

A large open-sided shed accommodates a permanent stage, sprung dance floor and general viewing area perfect in dimensions for the audience size. The P.A. is a Meyer Quad 4way and 8 send foldback system with commensurate light show. We provide fresh drinking water, flushing toilets, hot water over shower and sink. A second large pole shed can accommodate the entire audience in the event of inclement weather.

All weekend hot beverages are available from the `Mugs Away mobile Espresso' van along with a sausage sizzle/ hot food stall.

On the Sunday night, a live telecast of the Rugby League Grand Final followed by movies suitable for the whole family.

Just for fun

A permanent fun feature for the kids is the water slide. Every year it has returned due to popular demand. The same goes for the Mid North Coast Harness Club providing horse and buggy rides across the whole weekend.

Each year a fireworks display is put on show, once again we try to make it bigger and better all the time.

Did you know

I have vast experience as a sound engineer and a musician and I am well connected with lots of artists that are suitable for the ultimate party.

My first attempt at staging a super party was in 1975. My brother and I booked Buffalo, 2x 18 gallon kegs, cheese, bickies, chips and nuts and St James Hall Glebe and split the cost among 300 mates from Fort Street High School. Buffalo in 1975 was like booking Powder Finger now. Many similar events have followed.  As my experience in the industry increased the events improved and here we are today. The first Longview party of this type was in 1999 and served as a combined 40th for many of my peers. The Longview parties have a music, camping,  family focus.

A family thing
For the first time in 2006 we arranged for my mother Moya Therese to do a live piano recital on the grand piano in the living room of the Rotating House.
